Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 August 2026
katjanowicz.com (the “Site”) is operated by Kat Janowicz (“Kat,” “I,” “me”). This policy explains what the Site collects, why, and your choices. It is short because the Site collects very little.
The short version
I don’t sell your data. There is no advertising and no third-party tracking. The Site sets no cookies — so there is no consent banner to click through. I collect your details only when you choose to send them: through the contact form, or if you send a photo and a line for the readers’ page.
What the Site collects
Server logs. Like almost every website, the server automatically records each request: your IP address, the page or file requested, the date and time, the referring page, and your browser’s user-agent string. These are standard access logs, used for security and to understand overall traffic.
Messages you send. If you use the contact form, I receive and store what you submit — your name, email address, and message — so that I can reply.
Reader photos and comments. If you send a photo of yourself with Chasing Zero and a line about the book, I keep what you send. Nothing you send is published without your permission, and you can tell me how you want to be named — full name, first name only, or not at all. You can ask me to take it down at any time and I will.
The Site is intended for a general and professional audience, and I do not knowingly collect information from children.
Cookies and analytics
The Site sets no cookies. There is no login, no advertising, and no cross-site tracking. There are no analytics scripts and no third-party trackers running in your browser. My host processes the server access logs with a built-in, cookieless log analyzer (AWStats) to produce aggregate traffic statistics; this runs on the server and sends nothing to a third-party analytics company.
Who processes data for me
InMotion Hosting hosts the Site and its server logs, and delivers the email generated by a contact-form submission — so your message and email address pass through their mail servers in order to reach me. I don’t share your information with anyone else, except where required by law.
Some pages link out to other websites — booksellers, organizations, and my other projects. Once you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies, not this one.
How long it is kept
Server logs are rotated by my host and kept for a limited period. Contact messages are kept while I handle your request and for reasonable follow-up, then removed. Reader photos and comments are kept while they are in use on the Site, and removed when you ask.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me to access, correct, or delete the personal information I hold about you — just get in touch. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/EEA/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights, including the right to a copy of your data, to object to certain processing, or to complain to a data-protection authority. I will honor valid requests and won’t treat you differently for making one. Because I don’t sell personal information, there is no “sale” for you to opt out of.
Security
The Site is served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable measures to protect your information.
International visitors
The server is located in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed there.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above will change, and for significant changes I will give notice on the Site.
